extension ladder

antislip shoe
Part attached to the bottom end of the side rail to prevent slipping.
hoisting rope
Rope that is pulled to raise and lower the upper part of the ladder.
locking device
Hook immobilizing the upper part of the ladder at the desired height by hooking onto a rung; it can also be released to lower the upper part.
pulley
Small wheel for maneuvering the hoisting cord.

Part supporting rungs or steps.

Bar on a ladder that constitutes a step.
